Letter from Friends of Bonne Bay

Dear Members and Friends of FOBB:
It is with both sadness and optimism that the Board of Directors of the Friends of Bonne
Bay has decided to fold up the organization effective March 31, 2023. We feel that the
goals set out by the board and general membership of FOBB have been largely fulfilled,
thanks to the work of the Board and our two graduate students from Grenfell Campus,
Roshayne Mendis and Hadiya Bamragha. With the release of our extensive research
report titled: State of Bonne Bay – 2022, the Board has endeavoured to capture the
environmental issues which face Bonne Bay, both in the past and currently. We hope
that the report will stimulate further research by other organizations and government
departments (AHOI, EAC, GMNP, DFO, MUN).

The report can be found here and on the FOBB website and Facebook page until the closing date. It is also hoped that further work maybring together partners toward the creation of a “Marine Protected Area” or some other designation to better protect the water and marine life of Bonne Bay.

We would like to thank everyone who has contributed toward the success of the Friends
of Bonne Bay, and hope that the residents (both full-time and part-time), and visitors
will continue to be active and vigilant regarding the environmental well-being of Bonne
Board of Directors, FOBB
